“Let me explain. When one meets another human being for the first time, one doen’t just meet the person, one meets the “mask”, an iota of the “truth”, which in the artistic world is called” the public persona”. The “mask” is, in short, what people show other people around them, just as thr artist shows in her/his work what they want other people to see.
So when my paintings are seen with a regular light, the viewer sees what I really wanted to show. But what blows people’s minds is when they see what I like to call the “truth”.
The truth is something we naturally tend to hide but sometimes we cannot achieve that purpose because we are scared. . . The truth is that “the truth will set you free,” and I use black lights to expose it in my art. With the black light, it looks like a totally different painting. Original colors become totally different ones.. Things pop out more and some flaws and beauty are more vivid. Just like when one gets to know somebody else better. All these nuances under the umbrella of sex, lust, and desire. With the lights completely off, a subliminal message comes to life . It could be words or symbols depending on my mood.”
