SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS is a cozy little gallery in a suburb between downtown and hollywood in Los Angeles, CA, named Echo Park. In a small building on the corner of Sunset and Elysian, some of the most amazing artists in the world show a glimpse of their creations. Originally started by mixed media artist Shepard Fairey, of OBEY fame, and Blaze Blouin as an artist collective, it has now grown into one of the premier underground art galleries in not only Los Angeles, but the country. Veteran show-caser’s include: Phil Frost, Thomas Campbell, Mike Mills, Dave Aaron, and Mark Gonzales, Ryan McGinness, HunterGatherer, David Ellis, Doze Green, Aesthetic Apparatus, Space Invader, Jim Houser and Andrew Jeffery Wright & more. It’s not hard to see why this place played an integral role in introducing skateboarding and design to a whole new collaborative universe that has spawned an entire movement.
In 2003 Subliminal Projects Gallery was officially established at the Studio Number One offices of Los Angeles. Remaining true to its roots of simplicity, matched with amazing design and artistic presence, the galleries reputation and artist exhibitions continue to grow with every year. Embracing new forms of art across numbers genres such as graphic art, illustration, photography, and time-based media.
Located in historic Los Angeles neighborhood of Echo Park, Subliminal Projects continues to fuel the creative showcases of established and emerging artists, as well as hosting lecture series, workshops and artist publication events.
