Over the past 4 years Ryan McGinley has been slowly creating a masterpiece. His most recent gallery showing, entitled Yearbook, at the Team Gallery located in the heart of Manhattan, was welcomed by a massive crowd filled with eager eyes to see the photographer’s most recent collection. McGinley’s youthful focus on sexuality and the taboos of nudity as an art form were presented in what has become a style that is synonymous with his work and is truly inspiring. Simplistic yet emotional, his subjects were all shot on several variations of vibrant color backgrounds all presenting their own unique form and personality in their poses. The opening garnered long lines and media all scouring the walls of the double roomed studio gallery with all the photographs presented as if they were painted straight onto the walls and ceiling of the gallery itself. Each rooms photos literally surrounded its viewer in 360 degrees of a yearbook structured collage.
Like McGinley’s past work, this newest presentation was nothing less than spectacular and from the looks of it a huge success! Again and again he ups the ante and delivers to fans of his work exactly what they expect from the New York photographer, perfection through art.
You can see the gallery showing for the next two weeks in New York at the Team Gallery, Inc located at 83 Grand Street, New York, NY. Our Editor-In-Chief, Dustin Hollywood, while at MB Fashion Week, had the chance to stop by, catch up with McGinley, and shoot some candids to share with all our readers! If you get the chance and are in NY, this is not a collection you want to miss!
