Iris Grace is on the verge of artistic genius with her paintings, but there’s a catch, this amazing painter is not only 5 years old but autistic! Autism is a poorly-understood neurological disorder that can impair an individual’s ability to engage in various social interactions and everyday life. But this isn’t holding young Iris Grace back – the UK based artist at the young age of five is an amazing example of what unexpected gifts and talents that autism can also grant! Exceptional focus, attention to detail, and clarity have helped her create incredible and mesmerizing paintings. Fans and buyers alike and even likened her work to that of Money himself! It is truly amazing to see such talent in the midst of such struggle. Young Iris is just now learning to speak, something that usually takes place at the age of 2 in infants. While taking speech therapy her parents introduced her to painting like most kids at one point or another experience, and that is when they discovered her amazing talent for the brush and canvas! Her Parents are quoted as saying:
“We have been encouraging Iris to paint to help with speech therapy, joint attention and turn taking,” her mother, Arabella Carter-Johnson, explains on her website. “Then we realised that she is actually really talented and has an incredible concentration span of around 2 hours each time she paints. Her autism has created a style of painting which I have never seen in a child of her age, she has an understanding of colors and how they interact with each other.”
