We all used to draw when we were young, whether we were shitty at it or not is another question, regardless, it’s rare that you carry that into adulthood and stick with it – especially now a days in a world of digital design, illustrator, electronic pens, etc. Ink drawings seem to be a lost art, so it was amazingly refreshing to see Apollonia Saintclair’s work! Filled with feminine sexual strength, scenes of ecstasy and artistic presence, and seems to capture a snap shot of scenes that can have whole stories built around them. Saintclair’s work is vulgar but sexy, it reminds of all of our inner fantasies, yearnings, and imaginations that we often hide from most of the world. The illustrator who is based in Europe, her self-proclaimed “old world”, finds comfort in her work – she never intended for her images to be loved by other but are instead created for herself. She finds inspiration in sports, thrillers, and books/literature such as Henry Miller, Frank Herbert, Richard Matheson, and H.P. Lovercraft to name a few. Her erotic sex art, often horrific and gory webbed in a mystical and phantasmagorical light, are deeply rooted in symbolism and emotional projection. There are so many hidden meanings, details, and inspiration within Apollonia’s work and we absolutely love it! Look for more in the future from Apollonia Saintclar on Nakid!
