Claire Roche is an American photographer from Lufkin, TX and has been shooting since the wee age of 11 years old. The cinematic film look and feel are something that reminds us of late eighties/early nineties cinema as well as the retro analog look of her work – back to a time not too long ago where film ruled and digital was but a dream in 1-2 megapixels. Claire has a smoldering yearning to make a true to life story through her pictures by utilizing stark geometry and chiaroscuro light, to move her viewers and provoke thought and conversation. Roche manages her inner evil spirits, focuses them, and creates a story with her individual memories and emotions within the work to compel her viewers to see past the color, frame, and subjects and step back in awe of what she was trying to portray and show in her work.
Claire is a sophomore at Lesley University College of Art and Design in Boston, MA exploring Photography. She plans to venture to the far corners of the planet with her photography, to take each and any photograph extend or work that goes’ to her.
Roche submitted this story to us recently and we couldn’t wait to share it with you! Enjoy!
