Pete Deevakul is one of those artists that makes you stop everything you’re doing to thoroughly scan his portfolio. Addicted at first sight, you cannot get enough of his unusual sandwiched compositions. Pete presents far ranging materials and patterns connected through wax and light. Such rough to the touch mediums, come together smoothly and seamlessly under Pete’s hands. His work is a varied balance between still life and sculpture. Taking something so basic as a still life from Art 101 and reinventing it into it’s own piece is nothing short of brilliant. Using mirrors for continuity through out his pieces he some times invents other worlds framed in bright and bold negative space. Pete reinvigorates the importance of physical sculpture in a highly digital world.
