In lieu of Valentines Day, something most of us here at Nakid don’t care about or celebrate, we thought we would put our twist on it, hair twist to be exact. Photographer Emilia Wojdylak recently shot this spread for Nakid of model Emily at MSA Models, and Nick at Mint Management entitled “Of One“. With hair twisted, knotted, and beautifully braided into each other’s, Wojdylak captured a sense of intimacy left in the shadows, something you know is there, but don’t necessarily see. When asked about the shoot this is what Wojdylak had to say:
I was initially inspired by a couple I met in a bar, both with long blonde hair. Though they weren’t necessarily showing any publics displays of affection you could get a sense of their intimacy. I notice this all the time, couples with a sense of intimacy but not overtly, standing next to each other on the train but not even necessarily touching. It’s a sense of intimacy so present, grasping hands and making out in public is not necessary; they already move as one. This story offers a glimpse into that certain kind of intimacy, the hair representing their unity. I’ve worked with Anike a couple of times, and knew she could bring this concept to life with her styling finesse. Norah contributed some delicate makeup, neutral, yet contouring, and Emily and Nick fused together in every strange position we put them in. You can imagine how hard it is to move while attached to someone else at the head.
So in honor of Valentine’s Day here is something dedicated to the silent love out there!
