Spacesuits have been around for more than forty years – from the inception of rocket travel and low-space earth orbit to the planning of Mars missions today. Since the early days of the space program, spacesuits have been an integral part of spaceflight, serving as the lifelines and protection from the vacuum of space, heat, and other elements. From the Mercury program to the International Space Station, from the space station to the moon, and from the moon to Mars, spacesuits have and will continue to have an important role in human space exploration.
