New York artist and illustrator, Ian Bertram, is bringing the darkness to light. A native to drawing and painting, Ian explores the destructive relationship between man and self by way of vibrant and grotesque portraits. He seeks to confront the strange and the uncomfortable. Bringing a German Expressionist spin to his craft, Ian’s portraits are heavy in detailed line work and bizarre decorative components that give life to his creatures and their surroundings. The depth and layers in his drawings are exceptional and bring forth Ian’s exploration of the darker desires and curiosities within his self.
For a week and a half, Ian’s work will be exhibited in “And Tomorrow,” a collaborative exhibition featuring works by Ian Bertram and stencil artist Mor. The opening reception is March 27th, 6pm – 11pm, at City Bird Gallery (191 Henry Street) in Chinatown. The closing reception will be Monday April 6th, 6pm – 11pm.
