Thomas Lohr is better known for his professional photography projects in fashion, portraiture and still life. However, his personal project Birds is the most captivating. Considering the difficulty of photographing birds in the wild, Thomas Lohr travelled to various bird parks and menageries to photograph the plumage of birds. The results are magnified images of the diverse feathers and iridescence present in different species. The birds themselves may not be the most aesthetically pleasing specimens in their entirety, but up close Lohr shows us that each creature has an aspect of beauty that cannot be denied.
