Cully Wright recently did an editorial for Cake Magazine issue #18 and wanted us to take a look, so we did, and we love it! Staring fresh face Tanner Jones, From Q6 models based in Portland, Oregon, this was actually Tanner’s first time in front of the camera. He was less than a month back from his deployment in Afghanistan, where he served as a hospital corpsman in the Naval Reserves, hence the loose naval theme of the shoot! What Wright noticed above all else was Jones’ drive and determination – and innate passion for modeling and the industry, he was a natural. Pulling clothes from various designers and woven in pieces that were military issue, to give a fun street style infusion on a classic nautical theme, Wright seemed to have the perfect balance of fun and fashion. The focus of the story felt like a sailor on leave – a bit playful but also a bit lost and definitely sexy. All shot on various vintage 35mm Nikon cameras, the grain and light in each shot is perfect. Normally we don’t feature other magaizne’s editorials except for special circumstances, but we loved everything about this, from the analog shooting to the naval officer turned model! Enjoy!
