BROOKLYN TO LA, PART 1 – JORDAN MCFADDEN {TRAVEL DIARY}

1. COLORADO

We were driving in the outskirts of Colorado and no one was around for as far as the eye could see. The scenery was so empty and yet so complete.

Perhaps my favorite photo from the trip.

2. MONTAUK

My Mother had come into town to send us off before the trip. This shot was taken when me, my mother and my three sisters drove out to Montauk one last time together.

It was a rainy day with a whimsical feel of change in the air.

3. 1st FILM FILM PORTRAIT

Right before I moved, one of my dearest friends, gave me this CANON AE-1.

I had never owned a camera before and immediately fell in love with it. I decided to have my first roll of film be my last two weeks in NY, photographing each last hangout with different friends and loved ones.

This was my first self portrait, taken right before my going away party at Baby’s Alright in Brooklyn.

4. WYTHE HOTEL

I worked at the Rooftop of the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn. This was taken during one of my last shifts where I was daydreaming (as usual) and polishing glasses.

The sky view was always so magnificent there, unlike any view in NYC.

5. BROOKLYN STREETS pt2

5. BROOKYN STREETS

Both these shots were taken in Brooklyn right below the Williamsburg Bridge.

I was departing the next day for my road trip to California. As a going away present my oldest sister, Taylor, gave me a gold pair of shoes to wear on my journey.

6. FULTON VORTEX

7. FULTON VORTEX

The first stop on the road trip was Chicago.

We visited a friend who lived in this gorgeous apartment in what is known as the “Fulton Vortex” – an area that is known to attract a vibrant energy.

8. TOWER ROAD, IL

This was taken outside an Indian Trading Company on TOWER ROAD, IL.

We stopped and got lost shopping in the maze of turquoise, dream catchers and furs for about 2 hours, and this little pond was just outside the store.

This is Part 1/3 of the BROOKLYN TO LA Travel Diary. Stay tuned for the rest of the journey.
