Ian Francis makes his long-awaited return to Lazarides Rathbone this week with The Chosen Form of Your Destroyer. The Bristol-based artist unveiled a new body of framed monochromatic works alongside larger compositions depicting more complex, unearthly narratives. Francis’s third solo exhibition at Lazarides follows his 2014 guest appearance at The Outsiders London with a unique showcase of studies, in addition to the recent release of his first photopolymer gravure series with Lazarides Editions. The forthcoming exhibition revisits the artist’s interest in sensationalist media and virtual relationships within fantastical ultra-modern landscapes. Francis utilises a high-contrast mixture of oil, ink, acrylic, graphite and charcoal to construct cinematic works that are both dramatically appealing and visually striking.
The Chosen Form of Your Destroyer runs at Lazarides Rathbone until Saturday 1st August, open Tue-Sat, 11am-7pm.
