Traditional Japanese stories take on a new modern form through the twisted mind of Toshio Saeki. He mixes folk tales with ghost stories and erotic elements such as Lolitaesque schoolgirls and bondage. Using traditional woodcutting, Saeki creates bold colors and energized forms in his art. Equally disturbing and fascinating, many of his works are based on continuous stories, although these aren’t in any children’s book.
I’ve always been attracted to scary and paranormal things because they are mysterious. I love enigma and things that aren’t easy to understand.
