Currently a photography student at Brooks Institute, Prishtina Gjonaj moved from Grand Blanc, Michigan to Ventura, California to pursue her dreams of becoming a photographer. With her biggest inspirations being Irving Penn, Ren Hang and Tyler Shields it’s clear to see the direction she wants to take her work and where she wants to find her voice. Her photographic aesthetic evolved into a very clean minimal style, creating a dialog with the viewer without many elements to over-saturate the image. She loves to push her creative boundaries, making each image something unique and fresh. This new series is called “Discomfort”, and the series was meant to push herself, the models and the observer outside of their comfort zones. In doing this she hopes to evoke intense emotions between the image and viewer.
