This Saturday, February 13, 2016 is the opening reception for erotic illustrator and all around amazing artist Natalie Krim! To those lucky enough to live in the Los Angeles area or planning to visit this weekend you are in store for something truly badass if you can make it to the Downtown Los Angeles’ new Elliott Levenglick Gallery where they are proud to present the first LA solo exhibition by artist Natalie Krim. Mike Krim, founder of publication retailer Paper Work NYC and Vivianne Lapointe, founder and EIC of Live FAST Magazine, are set to curate the show during Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair. Curated by Mike Krim, this show is just in time for Valentine’s Day. This New York based illustrato jive’s on the side of sexual innuendo, provocative play and making you sweat lust just looking at drawings. The exhibition, titled “La Petite Mort” meaning “the brief loss or weakening of consciousness” or the more literal meaning “the sensation of orgasm as likened to death”, is sure to not only have you hot but inspired. Natalie has truly turned her sketch’s into something more than just drawings but rather an aesthetic and style all her own and more over they are pushing the limits of what we accept socially, are moved by and how we see the world and our sexuality, more importantly female sexuality.
The show features intimate visual journal entries as a stolen look into the private interior landscape of the artist’s heart and mind. Fresh off a sold out group show “a heart-wrenching love letter that seeks to understand love, and to find comfort through the intimate entwinement of Natalie Krim describes her new work as sexual experiences.” The show will open on the eve of Valentine’s Day complete with champagne, mescal and chocolates, offering a titillating vernissage for Angelenos seeking a date night destination.
The show is going to be packed, and you aren’t gonna wanna miss this, so make sure you get there early and stay late for a chance to mingle with Natalie Krim and pick her brain on how she came up with such an amazing idea and what inspires her!
