There is a certain feeling of odd and cynical content when you find a new F U song. It must have the right attitude and lyrics. It must be dirty and rebellious. It must make you want to plug in the auxiliary cord in your car radio and sing loudly while pointing fingers at every other driver on the road. Between FIDLAR’s “40Z on repeat” and the new Last Shadow Puppets, I thought  I was set for a while. But then “Everything I do is Out” by Matthew Logan Vasquez came to my attention. It has all the elements of the perfect pissed off anthem.

If not busy with his new born, or jamming out with the guys from Delta Spirit, Vasquez is micromanaging every aspect of his solo project ’Solicitor Returns’. The full length album is a one man project disguised as a full band merits. From the visual hand-drawn graphics on the music video for “Everything is out”, to playing every instrument in the album and managing all aspects of his Vinyl handle and processing independently. Matthew is truly an artist with a vision, an artist who’s perfectionists ways only represent his indisputable passion for his art.
’Solicitor Returns’ feels like a temporary escape from your common genre-categorizing conversation, but a open invitation to enjoy an album made up by Matthew’s experimentation with his life-long influences. Songs like ’Stand Up’ and ‘Bound to Her’ almost feel like a solute to the sound and songwriting styles of  Bob Dylan, XTC and some Bowie. It’s truly a joy to hear and we hope to soon catch these mind-blowing sounds live, and if you are in the UK area you could get a chance to.
Accompanied by Nathaniel Rateliff, Matthew is taking ’Solicitor Returns’ over seas for a 7 date tour.
