Today on NAKID, we introduce to you Kari Faux, a small town girl and honest MC. Kari Faux came on the scene from Little Rock, Arkansas, when her single “No Small Talk” grabbed the attention of the well known artist, Childish Gambino. Gambino’s remix of the single put all eyes on Kari and it wasn’t long before she dropped her debut album, “Lost En Los Angeles“, aka L.E.L.A. Since the release of the 11 track, critically acclaimed album in April of 2016, Kari has been well on her way to the top. The album, which features singles “Supplier” and “This Right Here” made way to outlets such as Dazed & Confused, Nylon, Complex, XXL, and more. L.E.L.A. also features the single “Fantasy” which explores strength in the face of heartbreak.
It has been a very busy year for the rising MC. In addition to the release of her debut album and music video, Kari Faux appeared on the single “Show Me“, released earlier this month by producer bLAck pARty. Keri’s single “Supplier” is also being used for the trailer of HBO’s new series “High Maintenance.”
Kari Faux’s widespread charm comes of no surprise. Faux aims to send an honest message with her music, and conveys it with a no-bullshit attitude. She is musically inspired by the sounds of her youth, growing up listening to classical jazz and gospel. Her ability to progress as an MC/ producer while remaining true to her roots displays an authenticity that you don’t find often.
Make sure to catch Keri Faux on one of her upcoming tour dates and see for yourself why we are all ears for this refreshing and grounded MC. Faux joined Aluna George on her tour in both Seattle and Portland earlier this week, and is scheduled to open up for Flume in Vancouver on August 7th at the PNE Amphitheater. She has her first headlining show in LA at Bardot Hollywood on August 15th.
