JMBLYA 2017 SETS UP THE BAR TRAP-HIGH FOR FESTIVALS TO COME {EVENTS / FESTIVALS }

JMBLYA- a staple in every Texan festival goer’s diet, absolutely killed it with their lineup this year. The crowd was hot AF, literally- but still turning up to Lil Uzi Vert, 6lack, Gucci Mane, Migos, and Chance the Rapper– to name a few. The energy in the crowd was relaxed, with people sporting sneakers and basketball jerseys from teams across the nation. One could never know if the diversity of jerseys was due to the Trap heavy line up attracting nationwide attention or maybe locals just like to expand their fanatic boundaries. But one thing we do know is that everyone was having a blast out there, so many distinguished fashions, ages, and colors. It was all a giant pile of youngins hoping to get a chance to trap out to some Gucci Mane, or catch the unforgettable ‘Bad and Bougie’ performance by Migos live.Everyone felt the need to dance, show off the moves, although some were good and a lot of others were bad. The only thing on my mind was trying to master the hype level of this dope security lady during Gucci’s set who was absolutely litty by the main stage. It was one of those moments that made me take my camera down and just join in on the hype.

JMBLYA finished off with Chance The Rapper’s perfectly softening performance to cap the night off. It is no surprise that we much like our city are big fans of the gospel rapper. We have been awaiting his return since ‘The Magnificient Coloring World Tour’, preparing ourselves because we already had an idea of how in the feels we were about to get. I swear for a quick moment during ‘Blessings’ the entire fest took a long breath, reached within themselves to find a sense of unity and counted their blessings as a community, and of curse lets not forget the time the crowd started chanting ‘Acid Rap’ so loud that it made chance change up his set to please his day-oners, it was all a perfect memory to leave with as I searched the festival grounds parking lot for my car. JMBLYA has outdone themselves once again, but just a quick recommendation for future events… can you seriously happen every year on Cinco de Mayo?
