Prima Donna is a LA Rock Band with a refreshing garage rock vibe that is reminiscent of the great garage bands of the 2000’s. Their new music video for the track “Press Your Luck” took me back to the early days where rock music was deviating its adventurous and youthful attitude towards the new millennium and the MTV Early Days.
The four-piece celebrated the release by debuting the music video for “Press Your Luck” The band teamed up for the 3rd time with acclaimed director Arthur Leon Adams III for this video, which was filmed in an abandoned boathouse shipyard in Crockett, CA. And while it completely reflects the doomed relationship the song is about, it also shows the new direction the band explored on S/T, drawing influences from Oasis and Social Distortion with an almost Four Seasons vibe.
“It’s a new chapter for us,” says the band’s singer and guitarist Kevin Preston. “This album is a true sonic leap for us,” continues Preston about the LP they recorded in their home base of Los Angeles with producer and mixer Eric Palmquist [Thrice, The Bad Suns, The Mars Volta]. “He was a very hands-on producer,” says Field, “and I mean that in a good way. He really pushed us out of our comfort zones and challenged us. I wasn’t always sure how certain parts were going to end up, but it always ended up sounding great.”
“Self-titled albums are usually a band’s introduction to the world,” adds drummer David. S Field. “Even though this isn’t our first, we feel this album represents a new era in our music and who we are as musicians and people.”
