‘EVERYONE’S INVITED’ – SPORTS {NEW MUSIC FRIDAYS / ARTIST TO WATCH}

Coming off a slew of critically-praised singles including “Don’t Tell Me,” “No Pressure,” “Cadillac” and “Shiggy,” indie band-to-watch Sports have released Everyone’s Invited, their third full-length album. The group’s first major body of work since 2016, Everyone’s Invited marks an experimental and innovative return for the trio, effortlessly blurring the lines between synth-pop, indie-funk, and psychedelic rock. Already receiving acclaim from PitchforkPigeons and Planes, and Ones To Watch, in addition to earning plays on KCRW‘s Morning Becomes Eclectic and Spotify‘s New Indie Mix playlist, Everyone’s Invited is a vibrant twelve-track offering that delivers something for all listeners.

Named after their self-described lack of athleticism, the cheekily named, Oklahoma-based Sports began playing together in grade school. Comprised of brothers Jacob and Christian Theriot on bass and guitar alongside vocalist Cale Chronister, the group’s 80’s-influenced electro-pop sound shaped much of their debut LP release in 2015, Naked All The Time. The following year, the band released their heralded sophomore effort, the funk-laden People Can’t Stop Chillin’. Continuing to grow at a breakneck pace, Sports have seen multiple singles including “You Are The Right One,” “Whatever You Want” and “Panama” amass millions of plays on Spotify alone. Kicking off their first headlining tour in 2017 – which saw sold-out shows in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and more – this year sees the group back on the road, performing across North America with Awful Records alum KeithCharles and synth duo ginla
