New York City Artist, Jennifer May Reiland will be showing her work next week in Miami (Dec 5-9) at Untitled Art Fair at the Guerrero-projects booth. She will be showing a series of large-scale watercolor paintings which display a new deck of tarot cards she have created, which focus on a witchcraft scandal in the 1680’s in the court of Louis XIV also featured NYC astrologer Annabel Gat, as the model for the main astrologer-witch-midwife at the center of the scandal–she is the woman in the purple dress. Other examples: the card for The Devil shows one of Louis’s mistresses participating in a Black Mass, which she was accused of. The card for Death shows the death of a series of courtiers from an outbreak of smallpox around the same time. Et cetera…
