Communicating through the models’ bodies, photographer Yvette Tang‘s art mirrors her psyche, giving life to the parallel reality that lies in her mind. She believes in the body’s instinctive movements because it speaks its own language and it always tells the truth. Occasionally, she prefers to work with models for long hours, to push their boundaries until they stop acting. Only then the photos start to reflect a deep inner state of subconsciousness and show their true emotions. For Tang, the body, as a subject, provides a captivating representation of the intersection between outward expression and inner identity. Tang’s photographs are often surreal and dreamy and depict a certain representation of the truth. She likes to play with the attraction-repulsion phenomena and make the viewer experience a wide range of extreme emotions, creating tension.
