Layzee Gold is an innovative, indie-pop music group that has emerged from the Wicklow area. A four-piece ensemble made up of Philip Nolan, Jamie Nolan, Chris Nolan, and Roisin O’Keeffe, the group draws influence for their music from a mish-mash of expansive genres. This could be anything as starkly contrasting as rap and traditional Irish music, but the talent of Layzee Gold comes together to interweave the best elements of these genres and create their own hybrid sound.
Drawing influences from contemporary powerhouses such as Sam Fender and Ireland’s own Dermot Kennedy, the band promotes their sound as something akin to groups such as London Grammer and The xx.
With their EP ‘I CAN’T SLEEP’ on the way later this year, Layzee Gold are making their way on to the Irish music scene with ambition and a fresh approach. The fourth single a song entitled ‘Me, Myself & I’.is OUT NOW on all available platforms
When asked about the song, Philip Nolan gave insight into the inspiration behind the hauntingly emotive ballad.
“ ‘Me, Myself & I really represent the feelings I suppose we are all feeling now in this time of so much uncertainty, with live shows and streams on the decline, this gave us an opportunity to release something with no real agenda other than to express ourselves as a band without worrying where this track fits, we are going to include it on the EP to act as a time capsule .”
With eerie and memorable sounds and lyrics that carry so much meaning, ‘Me, Myself & I’ is sure to set up Layzee Gold as one of the new sounds of Irish indie music.
