‘TAKE A STEP’ THE NEW MUSIC VIDEO FROM ‘ALADEAN KHEROUFI’ {NEW MUSIC FRIDAYS/NAKID TV/MUSIC VIDEO}

Aladean Kheroufi, the Canadian by way of Algeria multi-instrumentalist/producer is today sharing his new single, ‘Take A Step’ – the soulful new jam follows support from Complex and Earmilk for previous singles, it’s also the first from his new EP, Beauty Beyond Grief which is out on August 7.

Kheroufi has built quite the CV as a musician too, alongside his solo gig he has played in projects (Mac Demarco, Marlena Moore, Wares) that have found him opening for the likes of Angel Olsen, Orville Peck and Night Beats; his solo project meanwhile has found spots performing on bills with Daniel Romano and Michael Rault.

The new EP is a collection of reworkings of classic soul tracks that provided Dean with a sense of belonging and solace throughout the pandemic. ‘Take A Step’, the EP’s first cut is initially by Lou Burgio (made popular by Arthur Conley) and arrives as the first product of a tumultuous few months – notably the pandemic, of course, and the end of a longterm relationship for Aladean (having to find your own place in the middle of COVID certainly isn’t easy). Combined with this, Dean signed on to rent studio space in January and this is the first material he’s had the chance to record there – although renting your own space at the start of a pandemic isn’t easy, particularly when you lose your job shortly after.
