Dropping on NAKID today we have new music from a project that’s very dear to our hearts. Long time friend Hotel Garuda drops his first ever EP release today and we have it for you! Hotel Garuda’s story is that of perseverance and discipline, talent and determination and resonates. Being raised in an immigrant family, facing societal pressures to conform to cultural stereotypes, and ultimately spending years to hone his craft and develop his own style.
Born in Mumbai, and a graduate of Occidental College in America, Aseem Mangaokar has epitomized the DIY culture of modern dance music. Scaling the online tastemaker world with an array of remixes and remakes, his versatile sound has continued to beckon attention far beyond the music forums. Since his inception, he has been solicited for official remixes from the likes of Lorde, Lana Del Ray, Kaskade, Galantis, BANKS and more. He’s gone on to play significant festivals such as Electric Forest, Coachella, HARD Summer, Shambhala, EDC Las Vegas, Miami Music Week and Snowglobe. Now, he’s signed to Mom + Pop, home of Flume, Jai Wolf, Alina Baraz and more.
When asked about the album, Hotel Garuda had this to say:
“This EP distills a year-long introspection into 4 pieces of music. The name of the EP comes from the tension I felt between being my truest self, and also putting on the persona that listeners had come to associate with Hotel Garuda. For a while now, I’d felt disconnected with the electronic music scene inasmuch as I had a hard time finding music that really stimulated me. I needed to break out of the confines that had been forced on me as a stereotypical “producer/DJ”. This meant being more involved in songwriting as well as singing on every song.” – Hotel Garuda
