Photographer Maria Krugovaya and model Pavel Dyagilev teamed up for today’s exclusive NAKID feature editorial titled, ‘NOrmativity‘. The concept of this project is the new masculinity that is born after all the pressure of norms and restrictions a man is going through everyday. It’s also about examination of the gender boundaries, gender display, inner freedom, inner strength through outer vulnerability. It is about the strength and the true beauty of who you are. This series manifests a radical self-expression through all the pain a person is going through on a daily basis. When a person takes off all the regulations and norms and puts on a sheer dress as an armour, that is where the new masculinity is born.
Maria Krugovaya is a LGBT photographer from Saint Petersburg, Russia. Maria works with nude photography and sensual portraits. She has previously worked with “GQ Russia”, “Nakid Magazine” (red issue), “Cosmopolitan Russia”, and has created artwork for Russian singer “Yolka” and the Russian short movie “Gecko”.
Maria has been developing the art of nude photography for 5 years while based in Russia. Very often Maria meets hate and misunderstanding with her work. But she sees her mission in telling the human story; everything that is hidden, but breaks out. Maria’s works channel this hidden pursuit of humanities being and body, helping to take them out and free their owners.
