An absolute master of fashion illustration. His work is pure joy. Using the most natural, gestural lines he says so much, a technique that I strive for when sketching but never can quite translate when I get to the painting part (or the sketching part for that matter!). They are always there with Gruau. He was perfectly suited for the advertising world because each image packs such a punch. His lines dance and always hold the entire balance of the illustration.
