Visual artist Tortorella created this new series for today’s exclusive NAKID feature editorial titled, ‘Moustache Sauvage‘.
With an unapologetic representation of sexual phantasies, taboos, and vulnerabilities, Tortorella’s work wants to highlight freedom of expression in its purest form. A blunt sense of emancipation can in fact be found in the depiction of the human body with its natural imperfections and body hair and in particular the female one.
This is a clear critique of society’s physical standards, which are an aberration of reality, and only one of the many social conventions that are imposed on us. A brutal sensual frankness and a disarming sense of sarcasm in my work underline our inhibitions and fears, forcing the spectator to face them, and demonstrating how life must and needs to extend beyond these imposed stereotypes.
Multimedia artist, award-winning director, and producer based in Rome, Italy. I do art and, I create content for Films, TV, Events, Games, Editorial. They use all kinds of media looking for new ways to create unique stories.
After graduating with a major in Fine Arts, they started their career as an Illustrator and Animation Designer in 2006. During the following years, they worked as an Art Director and Creative Producer with leading brands and international broadcasters.
In 2014 they Co-Founded ‘Made On Vfx’, one of the top influencing creative studios in Rome. Tortorella’s extensive background in visual arts and video production includes success in multiple roles–from writing and directing – to producing short films, documentaries, music videos, commercials, opening titles for films and TV shows, and developing content for international events, and live shows.
In 2019, they directed and produced the multi-award-winning animated short film “La Grande Onda” and they constantly collaborate with the top creative Agencies and Studios all over the world to bring their visions to life.
