Baku, Azerbaijan-based photographer Ali Abdulkareem and model Nuray teamed up for today’s exclusive NAKID feature editorial titled, ‘Switch: Goddess x (Rubber) Doll‘.
Latex is known for many things, but mostly for its transformative power. Here, the viewer is taken on a journey through this series which I made with the wonderful Nuray. You can see the transformation into a dominant being, fully empowered and perhaps, intimidating. Reflecting the emotional state that the accessories she is wearing evoke. The feeling of being a skin-tight “second skin”.
The shift in the power dynamic is all noticeable as she put on the hood. The transformation from the “Goddess” state into the “(Rubber)doll” state. The qualification process begins as soon as the zipper was closed and the lace was tightened. Finalized by attaching the blindfold and the mouthpiece. She is rendering her senses almost useless. A state of sensory deprivation.
