AI art has blown up in recent years, and the technology has caused both excitement for what it can do, and hate for what it is doing, mainly to artists and art communities. Generated from using image searches and keywording across different platforms such as DALL-E, Stary AI, Nightcafe, Jasper Art, Dream by Wombo, and Wonder and more, these generators often create art in seconds across genres that would take artists hours or days to create in real life. Now, because of these generators, a new breed of artists has come into existence. One that is reliant on keyword and unique phrase generating rather than actual artistic skill and this has many artists, both worried and for lack of a better word, generally pissed. Especially since the upswing in these types of artists submitting works generated by AI to contests, such was the case in Colorado recently where the AI artist took first prize.
Today we wanted to give our take on it with this editorial created entirely by an AI generator, titled ‘Grandma Fever’.
What do you think of this new art form and where do you think it will go from here?
