Indian photographer Brishti, better known as Eithersideofthemoon, submitted this new series focusing on body archetypes and the beauty in diversity for today’s exclusive NAKID feature editorial titled, ‘Beautiful‘.
Brishti is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Law, and she resonates and connects with artistic expression in all its forms, especially photography. However, she did not realize that she also has a knack for it until she was in elementary school.
Brishti tells us, “I have a distinct body type, which does not fall under the conventional construct of “beautiful” and consequently got heavily bullied since a very young age which prompted in me having a bittersweet relationship with my body. In time, this very feeling of not being enough according to society’s standards made me go back to what I love the most, photography and art. That’s how I started taking pictures and this is my story.”
Through this set of photographs named “Beautiful“, Brishti gets the opportunity to relieve her teenage era as the model ( also her friend ) has fallen victim to bullying because of external appearance. They, in fact, have the same body type too! Through “Beautiful“, she helped her to see her own body in a new light and believe the truth that it is a work of art in and of itself.
