Amaranth, meaning an imaginary flower that never fades, is the first EP from Canadian producer Silas Egan. Based in a small city-town on Vancouver Island, Silas Egan released the EP early this year. He describes it as “messy happysad electronic music” – tracks created with an intentional swirl of chaos, at once bewildering and uplifting. Perhaps a paean to the feeling of wonder, Amaranth tangles the dichotomies between joy and melancholy, wood and electricity, the real and the imaginary.
