Rebecca Zephyr Thomas just recently shot one of our fav people in a Nakid exclusive, her friend glam star Abbie Lou fowler! Thomas prides her work on the fact that she doesn’t see fashion, beauty, or sex to be something that needs to live up to a commercial society lead view of women, she photographs women whose bodies don’t fit the model mold but are sexy as hell, and we agree. Fowler fits that aesthetic, a star in her own right, she has given larger women a voice amongst the overbearing bullshit the industry pumps out as the perfect female frame and proven that not only do you not need to listen to that crap, you can fight it, and you can win. She is an antique restorer and door girl for DIY rock n roll gigs by day and takes amazing eighties inspired selfies with body positive messages for her Instagram as her passion. With a following of over 17K followers she is getting through too. Abbie is a throwback to the classic pre-internet pin up girls of the eighties and early nineties, like Sam Fox or a Jackie Collins heroine – bad ass with big hair. The shoot references cheeky, British sea side sexiness and also how matching your heels to your underwear can be the most fun part of getting ready for a night out. Thomas has shot editorials for magazines such as vice, iD, wonderland and Grazia to just name a few. Styled by Lola Rose of Perfume River, the shoot uses Agent Provocateur and vintage tee shirts shot in a flat in East London. The shoot was going so well they even had their neighbors trying to peek in the windows to see Abbie in her lingerie! We love the message these girls are sending, and most importantly, how they are making an impact on an industry plagued by some of the worst social behavior human beings have ever indulged in.
