A year that Hip-Hop took over the industry, the year when culture mattered when experimentation mattered. Following up 2016 was very difficult, 2016 was possibly the best year in music of the decade so far, this year we saw the return of two of Rap’s biggest names Kendrick Lamar and Jay Z as well as Indie Superstars The Killers and Arcade Fire. We were faced with the sudden rise of the Psych Pop underdogs Portugal the Man to the main audiences, while Trap pretty much ran the world in 2017 with Cardi B, Nicky, 21 SAVAGE and Migos playing in every corner of the globe and for a while there SZA was everyone’s therapist having us hate on our Ex’s while remembering how great the Dick was. More importantly, let’s not forget the underground, Psych Rock got ever weirder by the second this year with newcomers Yellow Days, Shitkid and Rat Boy dig deep into the fuckery of the darkest grungy guitar riffs.
