‘Avec Amour de Texas’ is an editorial by Dallas-based photographer Ashley Highberger aka Wyldcosmia in collaboration with stylist and art director Calli Buckelew. Although this might not be the first time they have work together, the magic of this shoot is as if it was all as captivating as love at first sight. The duo always finds a way to evolve and polish their artwork with every project. For this shoot, they enlisted newcomer model Kayla Mullin, who’s perfectly symmetrical face matches the aesthetics of the french styling so eloquently. It screams vintage, self-thought elegance. The color theme of this shoot is dreamy and nostalgic and one look at those sparkly eyes and you are lost in them.
“I approached Kayla on Facebook because, look at her!! This was her first time modeling if you can believe it. I had a fantastic team of ladies who helped put this look together. I sent them inspiration for my vision and gave creative freedom, the result is better than what I imagined. This was my first time working with hair & makeup artist Kelsey Ikeler, who perfectly executed what I was going for – simplicity meets bold with earth tones. I admire her attention to detail, she even trimmed Kayla’s bangs before the shoot. My stylist is an old friend of mine, Calli Buckelew, who I reconnected with last year over her interest in unique garments and styling. She nails the look every time and helps me break out of my comfort zone since I seem to always want to dress models how I dress myself.
